The Infamous A Mother's Touch Test Drive Program©
Have
you been considering cloth? Looking at all the different options
available and not sure what you like? Why not test drive a few that you
are considering – most people wouldn’t invest without driving a car
first and we agree – why not test drive the diapers first. By
test-driving diapers, we hope that you will see that cloth diapering is
not time intensive, as many believe. It also allows you to try out a
variety of diapers prior to making a serious financial investment.
We
have been offering this program since we opened our business in the summer of 2003 in an unofficial way but it’s time to make it official as
it is becoming more and more popular. Originally, I lent some of my own
“stash” of diapers to friends who couldn’t believe how simple cloth had
become and these were both moms to their fourth babies and they made
the switch.
If you live in Ottawa, ON and area,
we will deliver a package of diapers to you and spend some time showing
you how they work (ie. How to fold a Prefold diaper, discuss laundry,
etc.) You can keep the diapers for one or two weeks. We recommend that
you take a 2 week “test drive” which will allow you to truly see how
easy cloth diapering is. You might even find a favourite in the bunch
in this time frame.
If you live outside of Ottawa and would like to try the diapers, you will be responsible for insured shipping to & from A Mother's Touch.
Your
“test drive” will cost the same as what you would spend on disposable
diapers for the same period: $20/week. If you decide you
would like to keep your child in cloth diapers, $10 of this
fee will be waived for purchases greater than $50.
We
also ask for a refundable deposit for the retail value of the diapers
included, which will be refunded when the trade-in package is returned.
What can I test-drive?
We
will work together and put a package together of diapers you wish to
try. Most people want to try our pocket diapers to compare the Fuzzi
Bunz to the Mommy's Touch to the DryBees. Since every baby is
different, this is a great solution so that you get a diaper you are
most comfortable with and one that fits your baby the best.
This
is not to say that we don't offer other products in our test-drive
program. We also have prefold diapers, fitted diapers & a selection
of covers for you to try and we can also throw in a few AIO’s as well.
If
you lose a diaper, you will have to pay the replacement cost. If a
diaper is damaged due to ‘user error’ (ie – you bleach a diaper), you
will have to pay the replacement cost. If a diaper is damaged due to
‘normal wear and tear’, you are not responsible for damages.
Once
the diapers are returned, they are washed so that they are ready for
another family's use - this includes a hot wash in Tide with a hot
rinse to ensure cleanliness. We also do an additional hot rinse with
Tea Tree Oil - Tea Tree Oil has antibacterial/anti-fungal qualities and
will leave the diapers smelling fresh and ready to go.

Please note that the Fuzzi Bunz used in our Test Drive program will continue to be the 2006-2007 style which has the same fit as the newer 2008 style which has yet to come to market. Once these have been on the market for awhile and are more readily available to retailers and customers, we will slowly be replacing the "older" style.
